Whytie joined the club near the start of the 2004/05 season, starting off as a loosie in the Bs. He soon impressed and played most of the season as a utility forward for the As, shining as a mobile, tryscoring No 8. 2005/06 saw Whytie putting on his coaching hat and taking over the coaching reigns for the club as well as continuing to play mostly at No 8 for the As and continuing to hog the ball and score tries. His coaching career got off to a brilliant start with the As losing only 2 games in an excellent season. 2006/07 saw Whytie continue in his role as coach and was even more successful as the As won promotion to Herts/Middlesex I for this season. On the field he continued to lead from the front but was forced to fill in everywhere including 1st 5 and fullback. |
