KILBURN COSMOS 29 - OLD HAMPTONIANS 12

Great game on Saturday with the Bs proving to be formidable in the forwards and great teamwork taking place in the backs. I have never witnessed such a cohesive team with communication and commitment throughout the game. This resulted in a final score of 29-12 to the Cosmos.

The first half saw a strong forward pack with us going forward with every scrum, much of the time Ben Zaug who was hooking did not need to hook the ball as it was an eight man drive. New player Shane stepped in at prop and did a formidable job keeping the set piece tight, alongside old
timer Bernard Knapp. Our second rows with Simon Huxtable and Jeremy Shragge proved their worth being the engine house for that scrum and our back row were therefore able to break early, with Tom O'Connor, Ashley Griffiths and Jon Trout preventing any of the opposition forwards trying to snipe around the scrum.

The 9-10 combination lead to the first 4 tries in the first half by playing heads up rugby and reacting to the dog legs our opposition providing us. Hayden Dawkins spent most of his time tackling and preventing any balls being taken through the centres.

In the second half Simon Huxtable came off with a calf injury and Rohan McNaughtan gallantly entered the forwards moving to openside flank. His commitment to the breakdown and reaction in attack for the pick and go was impressive. John Trout moved into the lock. This half was more of a
struggle for our team, but they kept their discipline and worked to set up phases in order that we could keep the quick ball for the backs. The opposition's defence improved and after a few penalties against their possession gave them their first try. Their second try came from a dog
leg in defence at the end of the game from what seemed like a very tired Cosmos team.
